HOUSE MANAGER

Hideaway Circus is seeking a dynamic and responsible House Manager for their open-air touring summer circus, Canvas Sky. The House Manager will be crucial in ensuring the smooth operation and safety of the circus, working closely with the Producers and Production Manager. The 2024 tour includes travel with the circus throughout the East Coast and Southern United States.

Rehearsal & Tech Schedule: May 13, 2024 - May 31, 2024 EXACT START DATE TBD

Rehearsal Location: North American Culture Lab, 110 Highland Lake Rd, Highland Lake, NY 12743

Performance Schedule: June 1, 2024 – Feb 2, 2024. 

Weekly Fee: $800 per week plus tips when applicable

Accommodation: Housing provided in company bunkhouse, private individual room, shared bathroom.

Employment Type: Contract - Non Union - Touring Employee

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversee audience safety; know the steps to take in case of an emergency or inclement weather.

  • Track day-of box office sales in coordination with the producer.

  • Oversee and train local ushers (1 - 4) per location.

  • Managing ticketing check-in process during performances.

  • Handle ticket distribution and manage exchanges and refunds for patrons, resolving any disputes that may arise in person and via email.

  • Handle any questions in person or via email from patrons and ticket buyers related to general rules and regulations at the circus. 

  • Set up, break down, and pack front of house and other circus equipment during site jumps.

  • Act as an additional concessionaire when needed.

  • Coordinate with other crew members to ensure that all operational aspects of the show are coordinated smoothly.

  • Additional duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience in a circus, live performance, or equivalent setting.

  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations is crucial.

  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to handle disputes professionally.

  • Must have a friendly and professional attitude, able to work on schedule and under pressure.

  • Proficient in inventory tracking and cash handling.

  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.

  • Must be willing to travel with the circus company.
